During our EEEmerging+ residency at Athens Conservatoire this December, we had some incredibly inspiring experiences with El Sistema Greece: visiting and performing in Skaramagkas refugee camp, and the Apostoli centre. It was a joy for us to also hear the children there perform their end of year concerts with total enthusiasm!

 

El Sistema Greece run free instrumental lessons, music classes, choirs and ensembles for refugee children and under-privileged families. In the 2018-19 academic year, an incredible 1834 hours of free music tuition was delivered! Since it’s start in 2016, more than 1,500 vulnerable children and young people from Syria, Palestine, Congo, Venezuela, Greece, Albania, Iraq and Afghanistan have benefited from their work.

UNICEF figures show there are 32,000 refugee children in Greece as of June 2019, and this Christmas we are looking to raise money for El Sistema, to help them reach even more of these children. 

 

So, we are launching the Palisander Christmas Raffle where you can win: 

 

1. A Palisander tote bag & signed ‘Beware the Spider!’ CD with personalised message (x3 available)

 

2. A video of Palisander performing a bespoke arrangement of your favourite song or piece, with a personalised dedication posted to Palisander’s Facebook page, and link to download the video file sent to you by the end of February 2020. (x3 available)

 

3. Interactive 1 hour assembly to donate to a school of your choice based in Greater London, or globally via Skype. Locations in the rest of the UK may be negotiated with additional travel costs. To take place in 2020. (X2 available)* 

 

4. A 1 hour recorder lesson for yourself or a friend/relative from a member of Palisander, in London or globally via Skype. Locations in the rest of UK & Ireland are negotiable, to include travel costs. To take place in 2020. (x3 available)*
